I am a political theorist with broad interests in the history of political thought, political concepts, and public policy.

My current research centers on two main areas. First, my book manuscript and several related papers explore modern theories of freedom and their difficulties in accounting for our social dependencies. Second, I am pursuing a set of interrelated institutional design projects focused on U.S. education and healthcare policy.

I am currently a Lecturer in Political Science at Clemson University. Previously, I taught in the Department of Political Science at the University of Georgia.

I received my PhD from the Department of Politics at Brandeis University. Prior to that, I earned my BA from the Department of Political Science at U.C. Berkeley.
